YOU → BALI
You’ll fly into Denpasar (DSP) Bali’s International Airport. There are some visa restrictions but most nationalities, including US and UK, can collect a visa on arrival for free. Wherever you are from please check for the most up to date visa information here.
Once you arrive in Bali your best bet is to get a licensed taxi (or a driver, more on that later) from the airport to your chosen accommodation.
GETTING AROUND
how to navigate
Taxis and Grabs - Grab and Gojek is the uber equivilant in Southeast Asia and are available in main areas like Seminyak and Kuta. You can hire them by trip or for an hourly rate in increments of 4/6/9 hours, which we reccomend if you’re hopping around the island. Blue Bird Taxis are the official and most trusted taxis in Bali and even have an app you can download to book trips, they are available all over the island and are the easiest way to get around, especially for shorter trips.
Private Driver - It’s common to book a driver by the day, especially on the days where you want to go sightseeing and hit a few spots up and down the island. The going rate is around $50-$70 USD for the car for the day so if there are a few of you sharing we’d recommend this for a day or two.
Driving - Driving in Bali is not for the faint hearted and we wouldn’t recommend it. It’s possible to rent a car but you’re required to have an International Drivers Licence or you can get a Tourist License from the local police station upon arrival. Same rules apply with scooters.
Pocket WIFI - the cheapest way to stay connected is to get a G4 Pocket wifi device. You can pick them up from the airport upon arrival at places like Klook and return them back at the airport before you fly home. Just make sure to reserve one online in advance.
Currency - Bali’s currency is the Indonesian Rupiah - IDR. $1 USD = roughly 14,000 IDR. Hotels and Resturants and shops take cards, while cafes and smaller businesses often take cash only. There are tons of ATMs on the island (althought you’ll have to pay high atm fees ) It’s best to exchange at least a small amount of currency $50 -100 USD to have when you land before you get to a money exchange.
WHERE TO STAY
accommodations
Bali has a huge range of options from hotels to private villas and AirBnBs that suit all tastes and price points. The wedding venue does not have accomodation so we’ve recommended a few places here. We suggest either staying in the beach village of Canggu, where the wedding itself will be held, or the trendy town of Seminyak which is nearby. Bali is a small island but it can take a long time travel small distances so keep that in mind when booking.
canggu HOTELS
Canggu - Bali’s “Brooklyn by the Sea” dubbed by Conde Nast Traveller is a cultural hotspot of colorful beach front bars, sundrenched yoga heads, Aussie ex-pat surfers and health food cafes with tons of macramé. This is where the wedding venue is located.

Bali is home to some amazing villas that is a great option for groups looking for 2 -10+ bedrooms in Seminyak or Canggu. Villas can be cheaper per room than some hotel options, and some include drivers or private chefs, so it might be worth checking to see what’s out there!
